Have you ever wanted to notify a downstream system when a contact opts out of texts in Hatch? Or create new contacts from Hatch in your CRM without using Zapier?
Well, we are excited to share that with our new webhooks feature, now you can!
Hatch has always been great at receiving information in from your other applications, but sending information out has been a little harder. But our new webhooks feature makes this easy, allowing you to customize and simplify your integrations. Read on to learn more.
The what and why of webhooks
Think of a webhook as a real-time trigger. When two applications are integrated (Hatch and your CRM, for example), they can pass information in two ways: the first is through regular syncs, such as once a day or once every 15 minutes. The other way is through webhooks, which pass the event information on as it occurs—in real time.
Hatch has always offered webhooks, but it has been through Zapier. This new webhooks feature is a part of Hatch, which means you can achieve platform to platform communication without having to create Zaps, which means one less tool, one less thing to manage, and one less cost.
Three ways to use webhooks
There are currently three pieces of information that can now be passed out of Hatch with webhooks, with plenty more to come. They are:
- Contact has opted in or out: When a customer has opted out of communication in Hatch, use a webhook to update that contact or create a new field for them in your CRM. The CRM can then pass information on to other communication platforms you use.
- New contact has been created. Not all CRMs sync directly with your lead sources like Hatch does, so a lot of our customers like to funnel their leads from Hatch into their CRM (vs the other way around). Now, this can be done without Zapier.
- Contact has received first message in a campaign: Some CRMs that integrate with Hatch don’t offer much flexibility: it’s either sync every last detail (which clutters up your system and slows everything down) or nothing at all. With webhooks, you can choose to sync only the information you need to do your daily activities quickly. This webhook allows you to notify other systems that a contact has been messaged, without sending every message they have received.
How to get started

Stay tuned for more webhooks
As we continue to move forward, our focus remains on making Hatch more customizable and efficient for you. Webhooks is a significant step in that direction. The more easily you can connect your systems, the less complex things have to be and the more productive you can be. And this is just the beginning! Expect even more webhook capabilities to roll out in the future. Thank you for being part of our journey of continual improvement.
